Welcome to my page

Welcome to my site which is my sounding board and blog for sharing ideas and experiences. I believe it is the people out there who really make a difference and a pool of ideas and healthy discussion or brainstorming session engenders more progress than we give credit for.

I love to communicate and this medium is marvellous. Please post, comment, disagree, debate or add anything you like. Our Woolgathering thoughts and ideas are important. Who knows where it will all end or what we may achieve.

Welcome everyone and enjoy blogging.

Baby boomer scaremongering

I've read in one of our national rags that there are people (unnamed) who consider those of us who hit 65 this year, such as myself, are a menace to society. Words used to describe us range from hazardous, privileged, revolutionary etc. Methinks that there is a force, not specifically identified but suspects include newspaper reporters, that seeks to disenfranchise us from society in the eyes of the younger generations.

I agree that our taxes, from a system born in the roaring 20s, may be insufficient to fund our pensions as our life expectancy increases but, pardon me for breathing, is it my fault that medical science (funded by such as we) has found ways to cure stuff that might have taken us to our maker in decades past? We paid for our own education, raised a fruitful generation and continue to be regular consumers of those things that make the world go round, including oil and other useful things.

I draw my pension without guilt, sorry folks, as I've paid into the system that presented itself to me. I couldn't volunteer to pay more but if I had it would make little difference.

Bankers continue to bleed the beast. Governments continue to treat the populace as less than and perhaps our voices will now be heard as we are freed from the constraints of work. Perhaps that is what is the real concern. Remember the 60s? We fought for civil liberties, gay rights and the further freedom of women from the mysoginistic mindset that prevailed despite ladies like the Pankhursts et al.

Long live us all, young ones included. It really is time the world woke up and smelled the coffee.
